Gluten Free Vitamins

Those who live the gluten free lifestyle have a much narrower selection of foods and supplements to chose from - especially gluten free vitamins. We all know of the many health benefits from taking dietary supplements and vitamins to either supplement or replenish our body's needs. Vitamins and supplements are becoming more and more necessary in today's world where nutrients and natural minerals are routinely stripped away from our foods in the practice of increasing product shelf life. Every year that goes by we creep farther and farther away from a fresh, healthy diet.

Gluten is so prevalent in so many of the foods that we ingest that the search for gluten free alternatives can often be a challenge. Fortunately today information is readily available via the Internet on such narrow topics as gluten free vitamins - something that just a few years ago was difficult at best to obtain. However, just because there is more information available, it doesn't necessarily make your research any less critical.

I advise that when you research for gluten free vitamins online that you thoroughly check out the company. The vitamin industry, like any other, has very strong and reputable companies, and some that are much less so. So, before you just buy from the first gluten free vitamin supplier you come across, ask yourself a few key questions. Let me give you an example. According to Pilzer PJ. The Wellness Revolution 2002.4:106, between one-quarter and one-third of the dietary supplements sold in the United States today have one or both of the following problems. Either the products do not contain what they say they do on the label, or the products contain undisclosed dangerous substances in addition to what appears on the labels. Either one of these items could be potentially very troublesome for someone seeking to buy gluten free vitamins and then subsequently discover there were issues. The problem is further complicated in that vitamins and supplements are not regulated by the FDA since they are not classified as drugs and thus there is even less oversight in regards to their labels and ingredients.

There are many very reputable companies available that specialize in gluten free vitamins, so don't be overly alarmed. However, be cautious and do your due diligence before purchasing. Here is what I personally recommend. First search and compile a list of the top ten companies that offer the gluten free vitamin you are interested in. Then, do a quick check if they specialize in gluten free products, or if this is just one in million other products they offer. The companies that make their reputation in this niche are far more likely to be trustworthy. Next I would before purchasing, do a quick search in the Better Business Bureau to make sure that the company itself is reputable and without major service complaints. Lastly I would highly recommend calling the company directly and asking them very specific questions about their labeling and about their gluten content. While this is no guarantee, it will certainly lead to much better success in finding your source for gluten free vitamins online.
